After only being announced less than 2 weeks ago the Wiggle French Revolution day trip sportive has already sold out it’s 450 spaces. The event will see riders head from Dover ferry port over to Northern France for a day of riding before returning back to Dover later the same day.

If you’ve been quick enough to secure a place, here’s what’s in store –

It is effectively a day trip to France with the added bonus of a sportive. There will be 2 routes to choose from : the Epic (74 miles) and Standard (55 miles). You will pedal your way along the North Coast and the National Park, taking in the fabulous traffic-free roads.

We’ll start you off gently with a lovely 7 mile, completely flat stretch along to Sangatte, before we add in some hills as you pass the stunning Mont d’Hubert and Cap Blanc Nez. With forts and bombing creators on one side and the white cliffs of Dover on the other, let’s hope that your multitasking abilities extend to cycling and photography…

You will then cycle inland to the Fôret Domaniale de Guînes where Epic riders will climb their way up the Mont d’Licques. After this it’s back to the coast, passing Mont Duez, Mont de la Louve and Wissant en route. The final challenge of the day will come in the form of Mont d’Hubert, neatly followed by another flat 7 mile stint. Then you’ll hop back onto the ferry with your goody bag, where you can enjoy refreshments / showers etc.
