EVENT SUMMARY
In 2014 the VO2 Sportive will be in its 6th year and to encorouge new sportive riders the organisers have added a new 30km route to run alongside the existing two longer distances.
Starting in Hildenborough and following routes around Kent and Sussex this is a great day of cycling for all involved.
ROUTE INFORMATION
3 route options are available –
- 30km – “Coldharbour Lane to Chiddingstone Causeway, then around Bough Beech resevoir on to Four Elms. At Four Elms you can rest at our feed station,refill your drinks bottles and grab a banana. After the feed station follow the road all the way back via Leigh to Hildenborough and climb past Hildenborough station to return to the finish line”
- 65km – “The 65km route takes in some stunning scenery around Kent, following the first and last parts of the 120km route. Starting in front of the amazing Fosse Bank School the route loops you around a small anti clock-wise circuit before heading to Shipbourne to the first climb of the route – Shipbourne Hill. From there the route winds across to Knole Park in Sevenoaks and descends River Hill entering Weald village. From Weald the route heads to Chiddingstone and around Bough Beech where it climbs the 2nd major climb of Ide Hill. At the top is the first feed station. After taking in the scenery and some food the course descends into Sundridge and climbs Toys Hill. Descend into Four Elms, where the two distances split. The 65km taking a left heading back to Bough Beech village where the 120km route re-joins the course. The route then goes up Station Hill in Chiddingstone Causeway and in to Penshurst where you climb Rouges Hill then descend back in to Leigh before heading up Victory Hill where you finish back at the School.”
- 120km – “The 120km route takes in some stunning scenery around Kent. Starting in front of the amazing Fosse Bank School the route loops you around a small anti clock-wise circuit before heading to Shipbourne to the first climb of the route – Shipbourne Hill. From there the route winds across to Knole Park in Sevenoaks and descends River Hill entering Weald village. From Weald the route heads to Chiddingstone and around Bough Beech where it climbs the 2nd major climb of Ide Hill. At the top is the first feed station. After taking in the scenery and some food the course descends in to Sundridge and climbs Toys Hill. Descend into Four Elms, where the two distances split and on to Edenbridge and through the Village. From there the course climbs steadily onto Wilderwick Road to East Grinstead. The route then takes a break from climbing and takes a 5 mile stretch of road taking you to the Ashodwn Forest .There the climb is up Chuck Hatch to the top of the stunning Ashdown Forest. At the top is the 2nd Feed station. Descend into Groombridge and across to Penshurst to climb past PORC up Grove Road. From there the route winds its way back across to Bough Beech into Chiddingstone Causeway and up Station Hill into Penshurst. The 9th Climb is Rouges Hill where you can take in some amazing views of Tonbridge and the district. Finally the course descends into Leigh and back to Hildenborough where you climb the renamed Victory Hill to finish back at the start.”
