EVENT SUMMARY
First run last year and returning for a second time in 2014 with an increased entry to 350 riders. Organised by Glossop Kinder Velo Cycling Club to promote their club and cycling in the Peak District National Park.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Two route options –
- The Half Hog – 50 miles with over 5,500 feet of climbing
- The Whole Hog – 83 miles with over 9,000 feet of climbing –
“The two routes diverge at Ladybower Reservoir of ‘The Dambusters’ fame. The Whole Hog goes along the idyllic Edale Valley leading to a twisting ascent of Mam Nick ramping up to 21% and a feed station at the top. You are then rewarded with a stunning descent through Winnat’s Pass, by Speedwell Cavern and on to Castleton followed by another steep and long climb up by Peveril Castle. There follows a gentle ascent to Abney gliding club and a flowing, long descent to the market town of Hathersage. The route then climbs to the gritstone cliffs of Stanage edge and returns to Ladybower Reservoir where the two routes converge”
