It’s been known for some time that Team Sky would be switching their clothing supply to Rapha for the 2013 season. However, as their current deal with Adidas ran until the end of 2012 it’s only now that we’re into 2013 that we get some more details and a glimpse at the new kit design. There has been plently of speculation on what the kit might look like and the final design isn’t probably much of a surprise, it’s what we’d call typically Rapha, black with white logo’s and a coloured armband.

As part of a four-year agreement, Rapha have developed a full collection of top-end, high-performance racing and training kit and off-bike dress for both riders and staff.

The Rapha offering will also extend to the best selection of riding and fan wear for supporters of Team Sky, with the full range officially launching on Rapha’s global online store (www.rapha.cc) on Friday 4 January, and at select cycling retailers around the world.

Team Principal Dave Brailsford said: “Team Sky’s successes over the last three years have been achieved because of a strong and steady vision to find improvement at every level to help our riders win. “I see Rapha joining us as another step in that direction. They share our ambition and vision for cycling.”

Founder and Chief Executive of Rapha, Simon Mottram said: “We are delighted that, after only eight years as a business, we have been chosen by Team Sky, the world’s number one team, as their partner.

“We share their passion for performance and team ethic and are enthusiastic to inspire and engage a wider fan base around the globe. This partnership, bringing us closer to the races, riders and drama at the highest level of our sport, is an incredible opportunity. I have known Team Sky’s Team Principal, Dave Brailsford, since he first began to establish the team. His progressive philosophy and drive within the sport resonated with me then and continues to serve as an inspiration. The richness of insights and experience that will come from working with the complete team of riders, directors and staff at Team Sky will help us develop our products to new levels and help create an even greater connection with fans of the sport. Just as we have always done for our customers, we look forward to continuing to improve performance and style, both on and off the bike, for the riders of Team Sky. It’s going to be an amazing ride.”
