The St George’s Sportive on April 27th is one of the most consistently popular on the spring schedule, and is on course to repeat it’s sell out success again this year. The Princes Risborough based event was the original Chilterns Sportive, debuting in 2007, and riders have kept coming back as the St George has grown year on year. These days, entry is capped at 900 riders, to balance demand with capacity, and to maintain local goodwill. And having sold out for the past seven years, the St George’s Sportive’s appeal shows no sign of waning.

Southern Sportive have labelled the event as one of their Spring Classics, falling where it does in the calendar, it also fits the spirit of the season. It may not feature cobbled roads, but the course is tough, twisting and punchy, throwing a constant stream of gritty Chiltern climbs into your path. But with the lush hills in full spring bloom, it’s also one of the most picturesque rides of the year too. Combine this with the immaculate organisation and friendly support, and it’s a surefire winner that keeps riders coming back year on year.

Southern Sportive advise that they regretfully have to turn riders away for the St George’s Sportive each year, so don’t leave it late to enter. You can book on now at southernsportive.com.
