Members of the Kinross Cycling Club and Michael Lee, Landlord of Dunning’s Kirkstyle Inn presented a cheque for £4,520 to Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) Fundraising Manager Jon Heggie last week.

The money was raised from registrations and donations for the Sportive Kinross in association with Alpine Bikes amateur cycling event. CHAS is the charity partner for the event on 28 April 2012 which will once again feature a feed station at the Kirkstyle Inn.

All 700 tickets for the event sold out within 61 hours of going on sale but a few remaining charity places are available to those who pledge to raise £250 for CHAS. Now in its second year the Sportive Kinross event has raised over £12,200 for CHAS to date from registrations and donations.

Paul Zarb, Sportive Kinross Event Director said: “Every time we hand over a cheque to CHAS the excitement builds for next year’s event.

“It was fantastic to drive along on the route today and to see Michael and his team at Kirkstyle Inn whose support is invaluable for the event.”

Jon Heggie, CHAS Regional Fundraising Manager said: “The Kinross Cycling Club are really supportive of CHAS and the services that we offer to children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This donation is a great early Christmas present.”
