EVENT SUMMARY

To honour the memory of the late Yorkshire celebrity a new cycle sportive challenge is being planned for 2012 to to be held around the coastal town of Scarborough where he had one of his homes.

Sir Jimmy, (known as Oscar during his cycling career) was renowned for the many physical challenges he undertook and a scenic cycle ride in his adopted home town is a fitting way to honour his memory and continue to raise funds for his charitable causes.

This event is organised with the support and agreement of the family of the late Sir Jimmy Savile and all profits from the event will support Charities and Good causes favoured by Sir Jimmy himself.

One route option –

  • 65 miles

“Starting and finishing on Oliver’s Mount, where the Scarborough Festival of Cycling will be taking place  riders enjoy the smell of candy floss and sea air  before turning inland on quiet, ‘rolling’ roads into the scenic Dalby Forest.

Leaving the forest the ride rolls across the flat Vale of Pickering before climbing the Yorkshire Wolds and  enjoying breathtaking scenery on the crest of the hills, turning inland for a steep descent and  heading back into Scarborough using National Cycle network riders climb Oliver’s Mount to conclude their challenge.”
