Entries for the new Scottish Bike Show Sportive, which is due to take place on Sunday 15th April 2012, open today. Running alongside the Scottish Bike Show ‘A Tour of the Lochs and Trossachs’ will offer a choice of two challenging routes or either 65 or 100 miles  through the countryside of The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

Starting at Balloch Castle on the shores of Loch Lomond both rides immediately head north east with some long testing climbs towards Aberfoyle; and continuing up to Loch Katrine.  At this point the shorter Challenge route splits off west and tours around Loch Katrine before heading back via Stronachlacher; passing Loch Chon and Loch Ard. It then turns towards Balloch Castle and the finish.

At Loch Katrine the Sportive route heads eastwards towards Kilmahog.  The Sportive riders will then travel north passing Loch Lubnaig, Lochearnhead and Loch Earn, before heading west passing Loch Lubhair and Loch Dochart to Crianlarich.  After Crianlarich the route heads south passing Loch Lomond, Loch Long and Glenmallan, Auchenvennel and Dumfin before the final run back to Balloch Castle.

Early bird entry prices are available until 3rd January at £21 for the 65 mile challenge ride or £25 for the 100 mile sportive.
