The Salisbury Saxon CX returns this Sunday (Nov 11th), marking the start of the new CX Sportive season. The Saxon CX starts and finishes at Salisbury race course, sending riders out into the beautiful Chalke Valley and up onto the high drove roads that flank it north and south. Winding up and down between the droves and the quiet valley road, the course mixes a variety of different terrains into a fast and varied route that suits a range of different bikes. Cyclocross bikes will eat up the road and harder packed offroad sections, while MTBs and 29ers will prosper on any rougher and slightly more technical stuff. On balance, this is a ride you can tackle on nearly anything though, and declaring the best bike for job might be a close call. 80, 60 and 40k ride options give you even more choice on the day, so you can make the ride your own. Coming from the organisers of the Trail Break mountain bike and Southern Sportive road series too, you know you have all the necessary pedigree and expertise backing up your ride too.

The CX Sportives roll on into the New Year too, with events in the Chilterns and South Downs. The format is gaining cult status thanks to it’s ‘anything goes’ philosophy and inclusive atmosphere.
