We’ve had the speculation over what the full kit might look like and we got a few teaser pictures at the start of the week but today Rapha and Team Sky have officially launched the new 2013 team kit. Selected items are now on sale via the Rapha store and are also shortly to be available via Evans Cycles.
As well the design there’s been as much speculation on the price with Rapha being firmly at the premium end of the cycle clothing market. If you want to wear the same Pro Team jersey as the Sky riders it will set you back a not inconsiderable £140 but there are also cheaper options, a replica race jersey comes in at £75 or there’s a more casual cut supporters jersey at £40.
In total Rapha have developed a range of 60 Team Sky products that fit in 3 ranges, Pro Race Team, Replica and Supporter product lines as well as women’s and children’s clothing items ranging from cycling specific to more casual wear and accessories.
Here’s how Rapha explain the ranges –
Pro-Team: At the highest level, riders will be able to wear exactly what the Team Sky riders will wear to race and train in 2013, keeping the same design, fit and performance from the peloton. The Pro-Team offer includes a mix of jerseys, bibs, jackets, merino, and accessories.
Replica: For the rider wanting the look but who doesn’t require the complete pro-performance or price tag. The Replica offer includes women’s, kid’s and “Wiggo” emblazoned jerseys.
City Wear & Supporter: Created to dress the riders and staff of Team Sky, the offering for supporters ranges from new gingham check colours of the Rapha Long Sleeve Shirt, Rapha Jeans, T-shirts, and supporters scarves and flags. A stand-out new product in this offer is the ‘Supporters Jersey’, a top that has the look of the team but with a cut meant to pair with jeans for off-the-bike.
