Organisers of the Etape Pennines have announced a new partnership with the Omega Pharma Quick Step professional cycling team that will see some of their riders, including Tom Boonen, take part in this year’s closed roads Etape Pennines sportive. However, it’s not quite as simple as them just turning up and riding with everyone else, riders who wish to join the pro team riders will need to join the OPQS Rider Club at a not insignificant cost of £350.

For your £350 membership you’ll get a place at the OPQS Rider Club Dinner on the 5th October then the chance to join an exclusive OPQS wave start time at the Etape Pennines alongside 2-3 OPQS riders. The riders expected to attend are legendary Belgian cyclist Tom Boonen, rising UK star Andrew Fenn and winner of the Young Rider Classification at the Tour of Qatar Nikolas Maes.

You’ll also get an OPQS team shirt, access to the OPQS support vehicle during the race and access to the OPQS support staff (masseuse and mechanic) on the race day.

Membership to the club is initially restricted to 150 riders and if you are interested you can now join via the Etape Pennines entry site –
