Taking place for the first time in 2014 the Ulverston á l’ancienne is setting out to be the catalyst for a major South Lakes Vintage Festival in future years. Combined with the Traditional Music Festival for 2014, the event is already half way there. The event will offers three routes over two days with the emphasis on the fun, social, traditional side of cycling.

Organiser Alan Brenton of Sportive Lakes limited says: “this is a great place for a vintage cycling weekend. We have great routes and scenery, fantastic local food and beer, live music on tap and a real commitment to make this a special event in the annual cycling calendar.”

Based at the lovely Ford Park, close to the centre of this delightful market town; the event will offer on site camping, food, music, cycle jumble and trade stores.

Brenton ads; “we want people to bring the family and make a weekend of this. The Saturday ride is suitable for kids and real heritage bikes, with Sunday aimed at vintage road bikes with a steady and a harder route (which includes 9km of stunning forest trail”.

Ulverston has direct rail links to Manchester airport and single change routes to most major UK cities. It is also only 25 minutes from M6 J36.
