etape-mercia-logoIt looks like the rumours and speculation were correct, the latest addition to the Etape series of events will take place near Chester. The new event, Etape Mercia, is planned for the 18th August 2013 and will be starting from Oulton Park Race Circuit just to the east of Chester.

The 111km (68.9 miles) closed road course stays mainly to the east of Chester with just under 1,000m of ascent it looks set to be a bit less tough than the Etape Pennines event that was launched last year. The route will start and  finish with a loop of the Oulton Park Race Circuit where riders will start to the iconic red and green racing lights before finally crossing the finish line to a waving chequered flag.

Organisers are expecting up to 3,000 riders to take part in the event and those who are considering taking part can register their interest via the Etape Mercia website now. Entries expected to open later this month with an entry price of £63 per rider.
