New Dunwich Doubler Sportive

Hundreds of cyclists will from across the region are expected to descend upon the sleepy village of Dunwich for the Dunwich Doubler, a two day, 160 mile cycle ride starting on  Saturday 5 September. Held at the Cliff Park Holiday Park in Dunwich, riders of all abilities and ages get the chance to ride two Epic 80 mile rides on consecutive days. Riders can enter into any of the three rides available over the weekend.

The route will see the cyclists passing through some of Suffolk’s most picturesque locations with stunning views, including Orford, Aldeburgh and Bawdsey. There is also a 25 mile Challenge Ride, perfect for beginners and improvers, with a finishers tshirt awarded when riders finish their ride.

Andy Bolton from the 12 Lost Churches Bar and Restaurant who are catering for the event says its a great sportive to welcome to Dunwich: “It’s great to have an event such as this in the village. The scenery is stunning, and the roads are perfect to ride a bike on it’s going to be a delightful weekend full of camping and cycling.”

There are a variety of tickets available for the weekend starting from £12 to £70 the all inclusive Doubler which offers riders entry into the 160 mile challenge, their own tent, evening meal, breakfast and bike storage.

The two day event will also include a wide range of free festival activities including the TotalTrax portable mountain bike circuit to improve your bike handling as well as a children’s area providing Balance Bikes for 2-5 year olds we like to start them young!

Dunwich Doubler Organised by Revolution Events, part of ActivatingCiC Revolution Events organiser Luke Rumbelow is also excited at the prospect of the new event. “Similar to the Tour de Broads, but in an equally stunning area. The three routes offer something different for every type of rider with a record number of challenging ascents to tackle, and the ultimate 160 mile in 2 days challenge.”

As a social enterprise, all profits from the rides are used to engage, inspire and enable the local community to try cycling using are growing loan bike fleet and support new and developing riders get active, feel great and achieve more in life.
