The first Marlow Riders Red Kite Ride sportive will take place on 2nd September 2012 hosted by the Marlow Riders in association with the Marlow Striders running club, with all net proceeds going to local charities
ROUTE INFORMATION
A choice of 2 route options –
- 100 miles (162 km)
- 50 miles (78 km)
“The full route starts with some steady climbs into the Chilterns up to Christmas Common. After a fast descent into Watlington the routes split, with the short route cutting across to join the longer route near Benson
After the split, the long route heading towards a relatively flat section through the lanes of Oxfordshire. This will provide an opportunity to do some steady miles or boost your average speed depending on your fitness, but make sure you save some energy for the final section.
After the routes join up, you will head through Ewelme. This is more rolling ground with one significant climb up to Cookley Green. Finally the routes go through Sonning and Twyford before the final climb up Winter Hill. There is a tempting descent into Marlow before the finish, but be careful of the hairpin bend part way down.”
