Children’s charity Action Medical Research is currently offering up to 50 per cent discount on the registration fee for their iconic London to Paris bike ride next summer. Running from the 23rd to 27th July, there are four routes to choose from, including a new 24-hour choice for those looking for a tougher two-wheeled challenge. All arrive in the French capital the day before the thrilling finale of the Tour de France, with riders pedalling in convoy down the Champs Elysees the day before the professional cyclists travel the same streets.

Route 1 covers 261 miles and is ideal for those who are newer to long-distance cycling, with two big days riding at the start followed by a gentler finish. Route 2 is 284 miles and full of World War 1 and 2 history. While Route 3 is the toughest of the three four-day options at 313 miles long, with a thigh-busting third day of 114 miles. For the new 24-hour route, riders will need to average at least 15mph and be comfortable riding through the night.

Oly Watts, Event Manager at Action Medical Research, says: “We offer one of the longest-running and most popular London to Paris rides, with many people returning year after year. With the Tour de France starting in the UK next summer, why not take on a cycling challenge of your own and be there for that fantastic finish in Paris?”

If you can’t make the July date, the charity is also running route 1 again in September (10-14).

Cyclists taking part will be raising money to fund medical research to help sick and disabled babies and children. Action is currently funding research into many conditions, including preventing early labour and developing treatments for babies affected by premature birth, helping children with disabilities and tackling rare diseases for which there are currently no cures.

The charity has a passion for cycling and has built up a successful portfolio of events, which also includes the UK RIDE100 series and the RIDE24 relay race.

Registration for the four-day London to Paris ride (July and September) is now half price at £70. Registration for the 24-hour challenge is also £70 (reduced from £99).
