The Rocket Sportive starts from the well-equipped Amberley Working Museum, nestled in the heart of the stunning South Downs National Park.

This ride will help you kick of your 2017 cycling season with the perfect early season test, designed to be an ideal cold-weather event with flat roads and warm feed stations throughout that will provide you a hot cuppa to keep spirits high as you chip away at the mile count.

The route itself winds through the low Weald area of relatively flat terrain that runs between the North and South Downs. There are no significant climbs to note, just rolling stunning country side to enjoy as you clock up those early season miles.

Starting out on the outskirts of Amberley, The Rocket will send you on a sprawling anti-clockwise loop through rural West Sussex, passing through West Chiltington, Wisborough Green and Loxwood before reaching the course’s northern tip, sticking to quiet country lanes and avoiding the town of Billingshurst along the way.

Continuing through Plaistow and Kirdford, the route heads back towards the South Downs for a handful of rolling hills before putting in the last few miles to cross the finish line.

You shouldn’t be phased by the hills in this ride, which can be taken as an earlier season ride to ease you into the year – or make the most of the quiet back roads and set a record time if you’ve put in the training over winter.
