Organisers have just announced the opening date for entries to the 2015 Dartmoor Classic Cyclo-Sportive which takes place on the weekend of 20-21st June 2015. Now in its ninth year, the event takes on a new look next year with a new website, ride jersey and updated branding.

Described as “The Glastonbury of cycling” by event promoter Andrew Perkins, the event is expected to sell out in less than 24 hours. “We set last year’s event at a maximum number of 3,500 riders – we filled that in just 1 day and eventually had another 3,000 riders on the waiting list.

Last year’s ride was run off in glorious conditions with riders tackling challenging 100 mile and 100km routes as well as the newly introduced Women’s Dartmoor Debutante ride”

“The event continues to grow year-on-year and gets better and better – with previous events having been voted ‘Britain’s Favourite Sportive’. The secret”, Perkins explains, “is that the event is run by cyclists for cyclists – because we don’t have commercial pressures we’re able to focus all of our efforts on ensuring the best possible rider experience.”

“We have an exciting few weeks ahead” added event Chairman Guy Langworthy, “the website will open for entries at 8am, 1st November 2014 and over the next few weeks leading up to that date we’ll be announcing our partners and sponsors and together with some exciting developments for the event weekend.
