The Santini Cotswold Spring Classic, a traditional sportive season opener for many, is now less than four weeks away – sticking to its annual Easter Monday date, meaning this year it falls on 1st April. The 2012 event saw Italian clothing giant Santini come on-board as the main sponsor for the event, and this is continuing in 2013 for both the Spring and Autumn Classic events.

“We really enjoyed working with the team at Velo Events for the Spring and Autumn Classic Sportives in 2012, and look forward to the relationship continuing throughout 2013 and beyond. Being involved with sportives is a great way for us to get out and meet consumers and get a better understanding of what they need from a clothing manufacturer.” Jonathan Sangan, Santini Brand Manager at Fisher Outdoor.

The Santini Cotswold Spring Classic has been growing steadily for the last five years, selling out in advance for the last three years – however for 2013 the rider limit has had to be reduced to 600 (down from the sell-out 750 in 2012) due to building work taking place at the college HQ, meaning a reduction in the number of parking spaces available. Event Director, Andy Kirk, told us “it’s a real shame to have to reduce numbers for 2013, rather than continue to grow the event as we have in the last few years – but it’s more important to us to provide a great event with great facilities and plenty of parking, rather than try and squeeze in an extra few riders”.

With an entry cost of just £24.50 the Santini Cotswold Spring Classic offers fantastic value for money – as well as the usual trimmings you’d expect from a sportive (a choice of three fully signed routes, very well stocked feeds, NEG outrider support etc) all riders all receive hot food at the finish, neutral service support out on the course (provided by Performance Cycles / Fulcrum) and a goodie bag from Santini which will, as always, include a much need Easter Egg for riders along with a little something from Santini.

Entry for the event is still open, but places are filling up fast – and due to the reduction in parking there will be no availability for riders to enter on the day. For further information and to enter, visit the event website www.cotswoldspringclassic.co.uk
