With nearly 11,000ft of ascent passing over the Bwlch y Groes at 1788 feet, the highest public road mountain pass in Wales, it’s enough to test any cyclist.

One route option –

  • 85 miles

“For the 2013 edition, I have set a course which takes riders out over the wilds of Cwm  Penanner and then via Penmachno to a morning stop at Llan Ffestiniog, before wending  west and then climbing up to a plateau near Cwmystradllyn before dropping down to the  bustling town of Porthmadog with its charming harbour. The afternoon sees the route  returning via Ffestiniog, then climbing over one of the glories of the area, the  Trawsfynnydd Mountain Road, before returning to Bala via Llanuwchllyn. Approx. 85  miles”
