Registration is now open for The Pearl Izumi Tour Ride Jersey sportive, which takes places as a part of the Jersey Festival of Cycling this June. Combining with the final round of The Pearl Izumi Tour Series and a range of other unique cycling activities in the picturesque village of Gorey, The Pearl Izumi Tour Ride will give amateur cyclists the chance to ride either 50 or 100-kilometre coastal sportive in the beautiful setting of Jersey.
The sportive takes place on Saturday 14th June, the middle day of the three-day Jersey Festival of Cycling.
Participants will be joined by riders from the professional teams of The Pearl Izumi Tour Series, such as Madison Genesis and Team Raleigh, while away from the riding there will be a whole range of activities including an urban downhill race, a local food fete and a cycle village.
Entries for the sportive are now open via the British Cycling entry system costing just £26.
Jersey will be the first venue outside of the mainland UK to host a Tour Ride sportive, organised by SweetSpot Group in conjunction with Jersey Tourism. Inspired by The Tour of Britain and launched in 2009, in excess of 15,000 amateur cyclists have taken on the challenge of a Tour Ride since then, in a variety of locations including central London, Wales and Scotland.
The sportive will receive sponsorship from Pearl Izumi (via Madison), world leaders in technical cycling, triathlon, running and active outdoor wear, who also continue as title sponsors of The Tour Series, Britain’s leading, televised cycle race series.
The 2014 Pearl Izumi Tour Series will be officially launched on Thursday 27th February at Madison’s iceBike show in Milton Keynes, including further details of the Jersey Festival of Cycling, which will present a full weekend of action for spectators and participants.
