Surrey Hills Gravelcross Returns With New Course and Venue

The Surrey Hills Gravelcross CX Sportive returns this weekend, Sunday 5th March, with a new course from a new venue.

CX Sportive events are built on a mixed surface riding ethos (on road and off), and from event to event, the tone of that mix can vary. In previous years, the Surrey Hills Gravelcross CX has been probably the closest thing to a full MTB ride on their calendar. That has changed for 2017, as the new course gets something of a Spring Classic feel, except with dirt sections instead of cobbles. The fire roads and gravel track sections are linked up by the rugged roads and back lanes of the Surrey Hills, making this into something of a ‘Beyond Road’ event; ideal for established road riders who are new to the more technical aspects of the whole CX/Gravel thing, and great for anyone looking for a high tempo, mixed surface workout in one of the south England’s best riding locations.

Route choices are 85, 60 or 40km, all fully marked to make navigation a breeze; plus route maps and GPS files are available too. Two feed stations on the course will keep you fueled up, and rider support vehicles will be out and about to get you out of a fix. Back at base, finish line rider timing will tell you which medal you’ve earned, and hot food and drink will be available to help you relax and recover.
