Southern Sportive 2012 Events Launch on 5th November

Southern Sportive are set to launch their 2012 season with a bang on November 5th. Now in their seventh season, many of the old favourites will return alongside some exciting new event. Whilst we’re waiting for the full list of events to be announced we can share details of the three 2012 season openers – which include a Joker, a Saint and a chance to check your pulse.
The Joker – Sunday 1st April 2012 – Salisbury
The Joker is a brand new sportive, set around the beautiful droves and valleys west of Salisbury on April 1st. Stunning countryside, chocolate box villages and an exceptional course in this ‘sportive-perfect’ pocket of hills will form the backbone of the day. But this is The Joker, and it wouldn’t be April Fools Day without a trick or two up it’s sleeve!
The Joker will tempt you and test you. He’ll throw down Jokers Challenges; extra hills and hurdles off of the main course to really prove your mettle. And he’ll offer you Fools Choices; free and easy short cuts that may just be too good to be true! Make the right choices and you’ll have the ride of the season! Misjudge his smile and you’ll fall into his traps…
As well a the usual Southern Sportive organisation an support riders will get plus unique playing card souvenir jokers for ever Jokers Challenge you complete, and a free, high quality t shirt for every finisher.
The Joker course will be revealed and entry will open on November 5th.
Risborough St George’s Sportive – Sunday 22nd April 2012 – Princes Risborough
Southern Sportive’s Princes Risborough Sportive has sold out for the last five years, and goes into it’s sixth edition on April 22nd with a new name in recognition of it’s popularity; the Risborough St. George’s Sportive! It’s an appropriate title, falling as it does on the weekend of our National Saint’s Day, and passing through the heart of the English countryside!
The event will have an increased capacity of 800 riders for 2012; but bear in mind that it has sold out and gathered a hefty waiting list for the past five years, so don’t leave it late to book!
The Risborough St George’s Sportive goes on sale on November the 5th, and the 2012 route will be revealed then too. Expect much of the course that has made it so popular in previous years though.
Sportive Pulse – Sunday 11th March 2012 – South Downs
Before these two April events, there’s a chance to hone your fitness and skills when Sportive Pulse returns for it’s third year on March 11th. Based at Duncton on the South Downs, Sportive Pulse is a unique day, offering you a mix and match course set up which allows you to tailor your perfect days riding, with advice from the experts to help you ride smarter, as well as harder. Previous event partners have included Wilier Bikes, Wattbike and Science in Sport. 2012 details and entry will be available at southernsportive.com on November 5th.
