Since his success last summer, Sir Chris has been working in earnest with a small design team to create a new range of bikes which reflect his beliefs and likes/dislikes in a bid to help more people enjoy cycling.

The initial line-up will consist of seven bikes; three road and four city models, and will be available exclusively from Evans Cycles from the end of May. There are plans to expand the range with the addition of children’s sizes and a track bike later in the year, as well as the prospect of mountain bikes for 2014.

Sir Chris has ridden pretty much everything in-between getting his first bike some 30 years ago to winning gold at the London Olympics; racing BMX, MTB, Cyclo-cross, and Road. This experience has given Sir Chris an excellent understanding of what makes a great bike and he has tried and tested each model, scrutinizing every detail to produce a range that is perfect for the Evans Cycles customer, and that he is proud to put his name to.

The HOY bikes Product Manager explained that Sir Chris is very conscious that not everyone wants to ride in the way that he is conditioned to and the outcome is a great compromise – a range suitable for everyone, not just the elite.

The bikes are stylishly understated, with distinctive blue, black, and red bands representative of the track markings as a signature logo throughout the collection, paying homage to the arena where Sir Hoy became the most decorated British Olympian.

The HOY city bikes are fast-rolling, lightweight hybrid bikes with the added versatility and toughness needed, starting at £550 for the entry level model through to £900, whilst the road range starts at £850 up to £1350 for the top spec bike.

There will be a wide range of sizes to accommodate men and women from 4’10” to 6’4”, with small and consistent increments through the sizes for optimal fit. The fit concept is a vision that both Evans Cycles and Hoy share: “We both agreed that for most people optimal gain both in terms of performance and enjoyment will come from having a bike which properly fits. With such a close brand-retailer partnership we hope to offer a service unlike any other, with the ability to adapt the fitting and tailor it for each individual’s riding needs.”
