Following on from its record breaking year in 2013, Threshold Sports has announced the dates for the MITIE London Revolution 2014 as Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May 2014 with entries opening from midday today (Tuesday 5th November). The 185 mile, 2-day London sportive proved hugely popular last May with the overnight camping option selling out and thousands signing up to take on the unique weekend challenge that takes riders on a full 360 degree loop around the capital.

Nick Tuppen, Head of Threshold Events said, “Last year was fantastic with people of all shapes, sizes and experience taking up the challenge. We always wanted a sportive that welcomed all riders from novices on hybrids through to couriers on their single speeds, businessmen on Brompton’s and elite riders in their skin-suits. To see them all sharing a beer at the basecamp was a great result for us. The fact that it has become the largest multi-day cycling event in the UK after only its second year is an added bonus!”

The route has been tweaked slightly for 2014 to allow the usage of a larger overnight basecamp at Ascot racecourse, but retains iconic London sites such as Tower Bridge, historical cycling landmarks such as the climb of Box Hill and a lap of Herne Hill Velodrome and it is all linked together with scenic back roads through Epping Forest, The Chilterns and North Downs.

Threshold Sports is also excited to confirm Breakthrough Breast Cancer as the Event Charity for the next two years. Breakthrough is the UK’s leading breast cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through improving early diagnosis, developing new treatments and preventing all types of the disease. The need for Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s work has never been greater. Breast cancer is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, affecting 50,000 women every year and killing 1,000 every month.

Tris Jones, National Participation Manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer says

“Breakthrough Breast Cancer is proud to be the official charity of the MITIE London Revolution for the second year running. Through this fantastic weekend of cycling, we hope to raise enough to cover over six months’ worth of research hours into the genetic causes of breast cancer. With the support of the MITIE London Revolution cyclists we can move one step closer towards beating this disease.”

A prime focus for the event organisers continues to be on making it the most sociable event on the calendar and with the promise of bars, lives music, massages and top quality camping provision for the Saturday night, 2014 promises to see the event go from strength to strength.

Riders can join for the full 185-mile lap of London including the overnight party at the Ascot racecourse basecamp, or they can head home to their own/hotel bed in the evening and leave us to look after their bike overnight. And if the full 185-mile loop is too much then there is always the option of just choosing to ride one of the days –

  • London Revolution full course including overnight: £169
  • London Revolution full course excluding overnight: £89
  • One of the two days: £45

Entries open at midday on Tuesday 5th November and are expected to go quicker than ever, riders can enter online at –
