Leige Bastogne Leige Cycle Sportive

The date for next year’s Liege-Bastogne-Liege Cyclo Sportive has been set for the 21st April 2012, the weekend before the pro’s tackle the same course in the UCI Pro Tour event.

The Liege-Bastogne-Liege is the oldest one day races first running as an amateur event in 1892 and is one of the five monuments of cycling (along with Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Giro di Lombardia) that together are considered to be the most prestigious one day events on the Pro Tour.

Last year over 2,000 amateur riders took part in the inaugral Liege-Bastogne-Liege sportive tackling either the full 260km course or a shorter course taking in the final 143km.

Entry for the event 2012 event is expected to open in November 2011.
