June Double Bill

The Cycle Events Organisation have a double bill of very different cycle sportives coming up in June, through their Southern Sportive and CX Sportive brands.

First up is the Great Western Sportive on June 19th, supported by Wilier Bikes and the Nationwide Building Society. Back for a second year, the Great Western boasts a sumptuous and challenging 100 mile course, with over 200m of climbing through the Western Downs around Marlborough, Lambourn and the Ridgeway. Starting from the Nationwide headquarters on the southern edge of Swindon, the ride takes you quickly out of town into the heart of some of the south’s best riding.

The following weekend, on June 26th, the action moves just a little east to Wantage, for the Super CX Sportive. Following on from a successful first CX Sportive in January, the Super CX ups the ante with a full 100km mixed terrain course using the fast trails on and off the Ridgeway and the quiet back lanes and roads in the area. It’s a full multi terrain and multi bike event, open to anything you care to ride. It’s ideal for cyclocross bikes, and great for an XC MTB or hybrid. You could even use an adapted road hack with a change of tyres, but leave your shiny carbon pride and joy at home for this one!

Both events feature the full package of support and organisational attention to detail that the Cycle Events Organisation have been bringing to events for some 20 years. Fully marked routes are backed up with detailed maps and GPS files. Support and feed stations keep you going on the course and RFID timing gives you instant performance feedback at the finish line.
