Fuji are introducing the Gran Fondo bike to their 2012 line up and it’s one firmly aimed at the sportive rider promising a blend of comfort and performance by bringing together the high performance aspects of a lightweight carbon race bike and the design features of an all-day rider.
Like most bikes aimed at the sportive rider the Gran Fondo has a slightly taller head tube to give a more comfortable rider position as well as a bit more compliance through the seat stays to help smooth out the road surface.
The range consists of four bike and all feature the same D6 high modulus carbon frame with press fit bottom bracket and internal cable routing to keep things looking neat and tidy. Component choice seems to be exclusively Shimano from Dura Ace on the range topping 1.0 to Tiagra on the entry level 4.0 including a choice of electronic or regular Ultegra shifting on the 2.0 model.
The range topping Fuji Gran Fondo 1.0 features Shimano Dura Ace shifting coupled with a Rotor 3D+F chainset.
The Fuji Gran Fondo 2.0 probably gets the most eye catching colour scheme and is available with a choice of regular Shimano Ultegra or electronic shifting courtesy of Shimano’s new Ultegra Di2.
The mid range Fuji Gran Fondo 3.0 features Shimano 105 shifting and Oval 700 alloy compact chainset.
The entry level Gran Fondo features Shimano Tiagra shifting with a FSA Omega alloy compact chainset.
Fuji bikes are distributed by Evans Cycles in the UK and all four Gran Fondo models will be available to purchase from them, prices below –
