LOCATION

Thirsk, North Yorkshire

EVENT SUMMARY

Thirsk, North Yorkshire round of the Evans Cycles Ride It series, a choice of 4 waymarked routes ranging from 11 to 76 miles starting from Sutton Bank Visitor Centre.

ROUTE INFORMATION

  • Fun Route – 11 miles
  • Short Route – 30 miles
  • Medium Route – 55 miles
  • Long Route – 76 miles

“Sitting on top of Sutton Bank with commanding views towards the Pennines is the National Park centre and the start for this great ride. Riding out along the top of the Hambleton Hills you drop through the escarpment , skirt around the bottom of Sutton Bank, head past Byland Abbey before heading into the Vale of Pickering. Next stop on this scenic ride is the Village of Hutton-le-Hole, one of Yorkshires prettiest villages – just watch out for the sheep wandering around the village green! Here is the split for the long route which disappears out into the North York Moors National Park. After a long, remote climb we come to the top of the awesome Chimney Bank, which, you’ll be glad to know, we descend. If you are feeling especially energetic then turn around and have a go at riding up, go on, we dare you!! From here it’s back to the event venue via country lanes and a final long climb back up to a well deserved rest.”
