Starting in March, Evans Cycles will host a new series of mini sportives from a selection of their stores across the country.
After many years of organising the popular RIDE IT series of cycle events, Evans Cycles are bringing that same experience of an organised sportive to a smaller, more local scale, hosting rides from their stores.
The Sunday morning rides are typically around 50km in length with the timings designed to get you out on the bike exploring the local area and back again in time for Sunday lunch.
Unlike a traditional shop ride, the events will follow a mini sportive format each with a fully waymarked route allowing all abilities of cyclist to take part and ride at their own pace without the pressure of having to keep up with other riders.
RIDE IT Event Manager Mark Gregory said, “Over the winter months we’ve been working with our store colleagues to put together a series of rides that will encourage more people to get out and enjoy riding their bikes. The typical 50km distance means they’re an achievable distance for novice cyclists but also great for time-crunched cyclists who might not have the time for longer events whilst juggling riding, social and family commitments on the weekend.”
Entry is £10 with finishers receiving a £5 voucher to spend in the store on their return and, like other events in the RIDE IT series, you’ll get a fully waymarked route, a back-up route map, GPS downloads available before the ride, mechanical support whilst on the ride and free energy products from nutrition partner High 5.
The full list of stores that will host the rides this year are:
