Entries for the Etape du Sussex sportive are now open and the first 300 entrants before the 24th April get an early bird entry discount paying only £24 rather than the full £30 entry price. The event takes place on the 23rd June starting from the centre of Burgess Hill offering riders a choice of 3 route distances that take in the countryside of East and West Sussex.

The three route options on offer are –

  • The Classic Route – 87 miles
  • The Challenge Route – 60 miles
  • The Tour Route – 47 miles

All routes start off relatively flat before heading into the Ashdown Forest area where most of the major hills for all three routes reside. It’s fair to say that the Etape du Sussex is a ride of two halves with the first half being much hillier than the second half. This means that to set your best time on the Etape du Sussex you have to gauge where you personally can make up the most time. Go hard in the first half climbing the hills as quick as possible and then hold on for the rest of the route or do you take it slightly easier on the hills to be able to put all your maximum effort into the flatter roads back to the finish.
