Cycling Weekly SportiveCycling Weekly are to launch their own sportive in conjunction with UK Cycling Events, the team behind the Wiggle Super Series.

Taking place on Sunday the 9th October the cycle sportive will offer riders a choice of three different routes taking in some of Surrey’s finest countryside with each of the route starting with the climb of Box Hill before heading out in to the Surrey lanes.

The 3 routes on offer promise something for riders of all abilities with the two longer routes tackling, as well as Box Hill, some of the popular Surrey Hills challenges of Leith Hill, Pitch Hill and White Down.

  • Epic Route (100 miles) – Based in the heart of this area of outstanding natural beauty, this route has 2 parts: a hilly initial 70-mile section is followed by a more relaxed final 30 miles, which is flatter and more flowing. The going is a little lumpy in places, but it’s not hilly. This terrain allows rides legs to recover and the pace to quicken as they near the finish.
  • Standard Route (73 miles) – Although this is shorter, it’s equally as challenging as it includes the same iconic hills as the Epic route plus the famous Box Bill climb at the end. After taking in the stunning views at the top of this iconic hill, riders will enjoy a flowing downhill section to the finish.
  • Fun route (33 miles). The easiest of the three routes kicks off with the famous Box Hill climb before the going becomes flatter and more flowing. The ride is a little lumpy in places, but it’s not hilly. The route takes in many quiet and peaceful country lanes with little traffic, allowing riders to soak up the beautiful countryside. Although this area is known for its awesome hills, everything is rideable if you have a reasonable level of fitness. Overall, it’s a great end-of-season tester on very quiet roads, within a stunning area.

As well as fully marked routes and the usual support riders will have access to free energy drink and food at the feed stops and on site catering at the event centre. The start and finish is at the Friends Life (formerly Friends Provident) offices in Dorking, Surrey providing plenty of parking and event centre facilities.

Entry for all routes is £25 and if you enter before the 18th September you’ll receive a free High 5 race pack worth over £12.
