Earlier in the year Halfords announced a new focus on cycling, introducing more premium brands to it’s online on in store offering, in an attempt to target the likes of sportive riders and commuters. Based on today’s results announcement it seems to be working, the company reported sales of bikes and cycling accessories are up by over 14 per cent in the last 6 months helping the company as a whole return to profit growth after several years of profit decline.

Part of the success is down to strong demand for the increasingly popular Boardman bikes and the introduction of a range of bikes endorsed by Victoria Pendleton with sales of their premium bike range proving to be one of the biggest growth areas.
