It looks like the Anthony Maynard cycle sportive will be taking a break in 2012, we’ll miss it as being based near Reading it was our most local event.

Here’s the full statement from the team behind the event –

With some sadness it has been decided that the event takes a break, so there will be no 2012 event.

Anyone would agree it takes tremendous amounts of dedication, energy and resources to run an event like this. Without exception, everyone involved gave their utmost in making each of those three events such great successes and wonderful tributes to Anthony.

For us, Anthony’s mum, dad and sister, our involvement on the day, over all three events, whether it was handing you drinks at Acorn Ridge feed station, or riding with you in the rain, are moments we will always have fond memories of.

The camaraderie we shared was priceless and something Anthony always loved.

All profit from the event has gone to charity, so that makes £16,300 over the event’s three years. As well as this, there were always riders who raised charity sums independently.
