The on-line entry system for next June’s Dartmoor Classic will go live at 9a.m. on Monday, October 29th and, although an extra 200 places are to be made available, another record sell-out is expected. Last November, all 2800 slots were filled in 3 weeks, while a further 400 were happy to be registered as reserves.
Plans to develop land, traditionally used for the ‘Depart Village’ of the event, are moving forward with alarming speed and it now appears increasingly likely that 2012 may well have seen its last staging there. Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club, in Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot, has been home to the Mid-Devon Cycling Club for many years and has played host to the U.C.I. ratified sportive since its inception in 2007. Suitable alternative venues have already been identified and negotiations are currently taking place with the management of the club’s preferred option. Whatever the outcome, riders can be assured that the quality and value of the event will never be compromised.
